INT: MARK’S PARENT’S BATHROOM, DAY

MARK is standing at the sink, cutting his hair with a pair of scissors.

DORIS
(V.O.)
Mark, you’ve been in there for a while, are you all right?

MARK
I’m fine, mum.  Don’t come in.

DORIS
I’m coming in.

She comes in.  She stares at MARK and at the hair in the sink, and screams.

DORIS
Oh, Mark, what did you do to yourself?

MARK
(Talks as he cuts his hair throughout the scene)
I’m cutting my hair.

DORIS
I can see that!  Whatever for?

MARK
To make it shorter.

DORIS
Do you take me for some kind of idiot, Mark?  I mean, I don’t mind if it’s shorter but why are you cutting it all jagged?

MARK
It’s not jagged; it’s spiky.

DORIS
There’s no bloody difference!

MARK
Sure there is.

DORIS
What’re they going to say at the bank?  You’ll be fired for sure!

MARK
No, I won’t.  I quit.

DORIS
Oh god!  Who are you, and what have you done with Mark Perry?

MARK
Mark P.  And I killed him.

MARK sets the scissors down, runs his fingers through his hair, and walks out of the bathroom.

I don't care about the title. This is a scene from the screenplay I'm writing in class. It's a good scene. I like it.

The reason he can do this is because he's 19, but he lives with his parents cos he's a bum and it's 1976. Looking back, I think I should have added a lot more background detail to the description but, meh.

School plays suck.

I'd upload the entire script but that'd be too looooong. Considering the finished piece is gonna be 40 or more pages.

I think it was more interesting without the background detail. It gave it a little more mystery, like why the hell was he cutting his hair?

hehe, no such thing as taunting his mother completely gratuitously!

kinda like that scene, cant be fired, i quit!!!! as if it was any better.

Modesty sucks.

And the best part is that Mark P is an ACTUAL REAL PERSON! This makes me excited in my pants.
